Questions

Questions about the Revenue Leakage Calculator

What it does, what it costs, and how far to trust the result.

01What is revenue leakage?

Revenue you earned, or should have earned, but never collected. Discounts beyond what you needed to give, payments that fail and are never recovered, work you deliver but don't bill, customers on old prices and invoices nobody pays all count.

02How is it calculated?

Leakage % = (expected revenue − collected revenue) ÷ expected revenue. For each cause, the calculator works back from the revenue you actually collected to what you'd have collected without that leak, using only the numbers you enter.

03Why isn't churn in the total?

Customers leaving is a real loss, but it's revenue you're still to lose next year, not revenue you've already earned and failed to collect. Adding it would swamp every other cause, so it's shown separately.

04What's a normal amount of leakage?

Published estimates usually put it at about 2–9% of revenue. Most come from billing-software vendors rather than independent studies, so treat the range as a rough guide.

05Is the revenue leakage calculator free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up and no email. It runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
