Questions

Questions about the Google Ads Cost Calculator

What it does, what it costs, and how far to trust the result.

01How much does Google Ads cost?

There's no fixed price: you set a monthly budget and pay for each click. Across all industries, search ads averaged $5.42 a click in 2026 (LocaliQ 2026 Search Advertising Benchmarks), so a $3,000 budget buys roughly 550 clicks. What matters is how many of those clicks become sales, which is what this calculator works out.

02How much should I spend on Google Ads?

Work back from the sales you want: budget = sales wanted × ad cost per sale. With $5 clicks, 8% of visitors becoming leads, half of those a good fit, half following through and 30% buying, a sale takes about $833 of ads, so 10 sales a month needs about $8,300. Spend only while each sale's profit after delivery covers that cost.

03How do I calculate Google Ads ROI?

Net ROI = profit ÷ everything you spent × 100, where profit = revenue − cost to deliver − ad spend − fees. For example, $14,400 of revenue − $2,880 to deliver − $4,000 of ads − $500 of fees = $7,020 profit on $7,380 of costs: a 95% return.

04What is the difference between ROAS and ROI?

Return on ad spend (ROAS) is revenue ÷ ad spend, so $14,400 from $4,000 of ads is $3.60 for every $1. ROI counts profit after every cost, including delivery and fees. A campaign can show a healthy ROAS and still lose money, so check both.

05What are the average Google Ads cost per click, conversion rate and cost per lead?

Across all industries in 2026: $5.42 per click, a 6.64% click-through rate, an 8.18% conversion rate and $66.69 per lead, according to the LocaliQ 2026 Search Advertising Benchmarks (Google and Microsoft search campaigns). Your industry can be far above or below these.

06What is the most I can pay per click?

Your break-even cost per click: the share of clicks that end in a sale × the profit per sale before ads, adjusted for fees. With 0.6% of clicks buying and $2,400 profit per sale before ads, that's $14.40 a click, or $12.80 once $500 of monthly fees is counted. Above that, every click loses money.

07Is the Google Ads cost calculator free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up and no email. It runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
