Questions

Questions about the Meta Ads Cost Calculator

What it does, what it costs, and how far to trust the result.

01How much do Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads cost?

You set the budget and pay for results such as clicks or leads. In WordStream's 2025 Facebook ads benchmarks (over 1,000 campaigns, April 2024 to June 2025), lead campaigns averaged $27.66 per lead, up about 21% on the year before. So $3,000 a month buys roughly 108 leads at that price.

02How do I calculate Facebook ads ROI?

Leads = budget ÷ cost per lead; sales = leads × the share who buy; revenue = sales × sale value. Return on ad spend = (revenue − budget) ÷ budget. With $3,000 at $28 a lead, 5% buying and $1,000 sales: 107 leads, 5 sales, $5,000 revenue, a 67% return on the ad spend.

03What's the difference between return on ad spend and profit?

Return on ad spend only compares revenue with the ad budget. Profit also takes off what it costs to deliver each sale and any fees. In the example above, $300 to deliver each sale leaves $500 of profit from $5,000 of revenue.

04What is the most I can pay per lead?

Your break-even cost per lead = the share of leads who buy × profit per sale before ads, adjusted for fees. At 5% buying and $700 profit per sale, that's $35 a lead. Pay more than that and each lead loses money.

05Why are leads and sales rounded down?

You can't get part of a lead or part of a sale in a month, so the calculator counts whole ones, as most Meta ads calculators do. With small budgets this can show 0 sales; look at a few months together instead.

06Is the Meta ads cost calculator free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up and no email. It runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
